SWOCC release. The Music Department of Southwestern Oregon Community College is pleased to present a Winter Concert. The Southwestern Oregon Community College Community Choir will present its Winter Concert at Harmony United Methodist Church, 123 Ocean Blvd., Coos Bay on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 7:00 pm in the Hales Center for Performing Arts on the Southwestern campus, 1988 Newmark Ave., Coos Bay. Cameron Jerde will lead the instrumentalists in some familiar jazz charts and improvisation. The Vocal Jazz Ensemble, directed by Ida Jo Gates, will perform a variety of a cappella and accompanied standards. “Here’s That Rainy Day” and “El la Macarenita” are two a cappella selections that were recently performed by eight members of the ensemble (aptly named SWOCTET) at the Bend A Cappella Jazz Festival. The remaining members of the Vocal Jazz Ensemble will join the SWOCTET on these and other numbers such as “Sunny” and “On Broadway”. The Music Department at Southwestern is grateful for any donations to the program, however, the concerts are free. The students and the directors hope that the community will come and enjoy these musical offerings.
