The Transitional Education Department, a college and career preparation program at Southwestern Oregon Community College, will offer General Education Development (GED) exam preparation, college and career preparation, college placement test preparation, Adult Basic Education (ABE), and English Language Acquisition (ELA) courses fall term. Through these courses, students can build a pipeline to enter college, training programs, and jobs in high-demand career areas. Orientation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 25, in Tioga Hall, 3rd floor, on the Coos Bay Campus. All new students can call 541-888-1593 or drop in to sign up for orientation for the term. Lunch will be provided for all enrolled students. The courses then start on Tuesday, Sept. 26.  Transitional Education front desk hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The college also offers GED classes in Brookings and Port Orford.
