As requested by the Community Coalition of Empire (CCE), the City of Coos Bay has lowered the speed limit on Newmark Ave., between Cammann St. and Empire Blvd. from 30 to 20 mph. The City had to first get permission from the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) to make the change. According to a release from the City, “staff will be installing signs for the revised speed limits during December.” The CCE reportedly requested the change citing “safety concerns”.
