Star of Hope Activity Center Inc. a non-profit organization located in Coos Bay, Oregon has recently been awarded a $10,000.00 grant from the Henry Lea Hillman Jr. Foundation, Pittsburg Pennsylvania. The award was in response to a request submitted to the Foundation in September 2014 by Star of Hope. In 1982 Star of Hope purchased a four-plex located on South Cammann Street in Coos Bay. The 3,400 square foot facility consists of two units on the ground floor and two units on the upper floor. Cammann Street Group Home has never been significantly remodeled or renovated. As a result there are a number of shortcomings’ in the building that directly impact the residence. The Hillman Foundation grant will allow for example the replacement of windows with double pane windows for better energy efficiency, install conservation appropriate plumbing fixtures, and replace appliances with more energy efficient appliances.
