NBPL release – The North Bend Public Library’s Summer Reading Program begins this week with bingo cards for both children and adults. The bingo squares include a variety of reading suggestions and activities, and completing a row earns a ticket for a weekly prize drawing. Kids are not only entered in a drawing, but will also receive a prize for every row completed. Participants can enter to win grand prizes of an Amazon Fire 10 tablet for adults and two Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablets for kids. Other prizes have been donated by local sponsors, including Alder Smokehouse, Bully’s Garden Supply, Ciccarrelli’s Restaurant, El Guadalajara Restaurant, Maria’s Authentic Mexican Restaurant, Moe’s Super Lube, North Bend Lanes, Painted Zebra, Pancake Mill Restaurant, Petal to the Metal Flowers, Tin Thistle, teeshirt express, Vinny’s Smokin’ Good Burgers & Sandwiches, and Yeong’s Place. Among the events planned for the Summer Reading Program are the return of magician Jay Frasier at 2 pm on Saturday, June 22 and a visit from International Reptile Rescue at 1 pm on Thursday, June 27. In July, Micah & Me, a family-friendly band, will be back for two children’s events, a dance party and a ukulele class. Wednesdays will have teen “crafternoons.” This summer’s theme is A Universe of Stories, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first humans landing on the Moon on July 20, 1969. In keeping with the theme, NBPL has invited SWOCC physicist and NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador Dr. Aaron Coyner to be part of a variety of programs for children and adults. The Summer Reading Program features weekly programs for a variety of ages and is made possible by the support of the Friends of the North Bend Public Library and a Ready to Read grant from the OR State Library. All library programs are free, but a library card is required to check out books and other materials. For more information about this and other library programs, please contact the North Bend Public Library at 541-756-0400 or see our website at http://northbendoregon.us/library.
