Michael Gretler’s run-scoring single in the fifth inning proved to be the game winner as the 24th-ranked Oregon State baseball team defeated Cal Poly, 4-2, Sunday at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field in the series finale. Gretler lofted a pitch from reliever Michael Gomez into the gap in right center, driving in Kyle Nobach for a 3-2 lead. A batter earlier, Logan Ice had driven in the game-tying run on a sacrifice fly to left. Oregon State (21-7) jumps back into Pac-12 Conference play this weekend when visiting UCLA for a three-game series that begins Thursday night. First pitch Thursday is 7 p.m., followed by a 7 p.m. start Friday and a 4 p.m. game Saturday. All three games of the series are slated to air on the Pac-12 Networks.

The Oregon State (23-11, 4-5) took the series finale Sunday afternoon against the No. 17 California Golden Bears (26-7, 4-5). The Beavers held the Bears to just five hits, taking the game by a final score of 3-1. The Beavers will return home next weekend for a series against the Arizona Wildcats, starting Thursday April 2 at 3 p.m. and concluding Saturday, April 4. All games will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks.

Geri Ann Glasco hit three of a UO-record eight home runs Sunday as the No. 2 Oregon softball team won a rubber match with No. 19 Washington, 15-6 at Howe Field. How It Happened: The Ducks (30-4, 8-1 Pac-12) led 3-0 on home runs by Jenna Lilley and Glasco before exploding for 10 runs in the third inning. Oregon clubbed five homers in the inning — two-run shots by Hailey Decker and Glasco, a solo shot by Janelle Lindvall as she went back-to-back with Glasco, another two-run blast by Nikki Udria and finally a three-run homer by Decker. Washington (31-9, 3-5) joined in the power surge with two solo shots off UO starter Cheridan Hawkins in the top of the fourth, but the Ducks got both runs back in the bottom of the inning on Glasco’s third homer and an RBI double by Danica Mercado. The Huskies rallied for four runs in the fifth off Hawkins and reliever Karissa Hovinga, before Hawkins struck out the final hitter after being reinserted. The Ducks have a three-game showdown at No. 10 UCLA, beginning Friday (5 p.m., Pac-12 Networks).

Oregon’s struggles in Pac-12 play continued Sunday as host Arizona completed a three-game sweep with a 13-4 victory, dropping the UO baseball team to 2-7 in conference play. How It Happened: For the second day in a row, a big inning by the Wildcats doomed the Ducks (17-11). Arizona touched UO starter Cole Irvin (1-2) for seven runs in the second inning, capped by a two-run Bobby Dalbec home run. The Ducks have nearly two full weeks before the resumption of Pac-12 play. Oregon opens a span of five games in six days by hosting Portland on Tuesday in PK Park at 6 p.m.
