On February 5, 2019 the Oregon State Police’s Office of Medical Examiner has identified the person located in the Toyota pickup as Richard Hillmann. Original release – On January 23, 2019 at approximately 4:00 P.M. a citizen flagged down a Josephine County Deputy and told him he discovered a truck in the river near the Argo Boat Ramp. The boat ramp is about 5 miles downstream from the town of Galice. Deputies responded and located a green Toyota pickup in the river about 10-15 feet from the shore. There was a deceased person in the cab of the pickup. Oregon State Police Detectives responded and later confirmed the vehicle was registered to Richard Hillmann who had been reported missing in November 2017. Detectives are currently unable to confirm the identity of the deceased person. The vehicle was removed from the river with the assistance of Josephine County Sheriff’s office Search and Rescue. Detectives are continuing the investigation.
