OHA release – Greetings Beach Monitoring Partners, We are writing to let you know that the 2020 Oregon beach monitoring season is postponed. Due to Governor Brown’s “Stay Home. Safe Lives” executive order, state parks, park-managed parking lots, and beach access points are temporarily closed. Local authorities may also decide to close other beach access points along the coastline. We will be watching Governor Brown’s updates and will begin the 2020 beach monitoring season when the “Stay Home. Save Lives” order is lifted. We have updated our website with this information and are advising the public to “Please be aware that until the executive order is lifted and beach access points reopen, we will not monitor ocean water for harmful bacteria.” If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at Beach.Health@state.or.us or 971-673-0440. More information: Oregon Health Authority COVID-19 page; Oregon State Park Closures COVID-19 response page; Governor Brown’s “Stay Home, Save Lives” COVID-19 page; Thanks for your continued partnership and stay well, The Oregon Beach Monitoring Program.
