2500 Road Fire, Aug. 29

Oregon Dept. of Forestry update on Central Coast Fire near Depoe Bay. Thursday’s weather tested the firelines as predicted it would. All three of the fire’s containment lines held. In fact the wind and the lower relative humidity aided to find hot spots inside the perimeter by allowing them to heat up and smoke. Mike Totey ODF District Forester said “it passed the test”. Further mop up of the fires continued Friday. The northern most section of the fire (division A) has several hot spots inside the containment line. Some fire crews will shift from the other divisions to add capacity to this fire. Fire personnel will be gliding down the next 2 days to have the right size crews remaining on the fire to support the objectives. There will be crews working on the fire until it is in a patrol status. The fire team is working on plans to return the fire back to the local district. Forgarty Creek State Park will temporarily remain closed to the public while fire crews are utilizing it for fire camp. We hope to let you know soon when it will reopen.
