EUGENE, Ore. – For a second straight summer, Oregon women’s basketball stars Sabrina Ionescu and Ruthy Hebard will suit up for USA Basketball’s 3×3 team in international play. Ionescu and Hebard will join UConn teammates Olivia Nelson-Ododa and Christyn Williams on the USA Basketball 3×3 roster for the Pan American Games on July 27-29 at the Coliseo Eduardo Dibo in Lima, Peru. Hebard and Ionescu have been mainstays in the USA Basketball 3×3 pipeline. Last summer, Ionescu and Hebard, along with Oti Gildon and Erin Boley, won the USA Basketball 3×3 national title in Colorado Springs and went on to represent the USA at the FIBA 3×3 World Cup in the Philippines, finishing fifth. This summer, Ionescu, Hebard, Gildon and Lydia Giomi again won the USA Basketball national title in Las Vegas. Ionescu was named MVP of the tournament after scoring 17 of the team’s 21 points in the championship game and assisting on the other four. For the first time, 3×3 basketball will be played at the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Summer Games. At the Pan America Games, the USA women will open play on July 27 against Argentina at 1:30 PM PT, followed by Uruguay at 4 PM PT and Brazil at 7 PM PT. USA completes preliminary round play on July 28 versus Venezuela at 3 PM and Dominican Republic at 5 PM. The women’s semifinals will be played on July 29, and will feature the No. 1 and No. 4 teams from the preliminary round at 7 AM PT, followed by the No. 2 and No. 3 placed teams at 7:30 AM PT. The semifinal losers will meet in the bronze medal game at 10 AM PT and the winners will play in the gold medal game at 11 AM PT. The women’s fifth place game, which includes the No. 5 and No. 6 teams, will be played at 9 AM on July 29.
