OSAA Track
Marshfield’s boys captured the 4A OSAA Track & Field Championships Saturday at Hayward Field, Eugene. North Bend’s boys were fourth in the 5A Championships. Marshfield finished with 57-points to Henley’s 52. Siuslaw was third with 45 & Mazama fourth at 43. Individually for the Pirates, the pole vault produced points with Jonathon Parks placing first (14-09), Danner Wilson third (14-03) & Trent Summers fourth (14-00). Alexander Silver-Garcia was second in both the 3000 (8:35.45) & the 1500 (4:03.46). The Pirate 4X100 Relay team (Aaron Hutchins, Elijah Fox, Cael Church, Jonathon Parks) placed second (44.29), and the same group was third in the 4X400 Relay (3:32.27). Ismael Rodriguez placed sixth in the 800 (2:02.37) and Matthew Allen sixth in the Discus (127-11). The Pirate girls were led by Daphne Scriven who won a state title in the Discus Throw (110-11). She was also fourth in the Shot Put (33-06.50). Charlie Dea was fourth in the 300H (48.90), Bailey Wallack eighth in the 400 (1:02.05) & Tori Cox eighth in the Discus (102-10). North Bend’s boys were fourth (56) to state champ Silverton (79), runners-up Crater (69) & third-place Wilsonville (65). Individually for the Bulldogs, Jason Padgett was second in the 100 (11.01) & seventh in the 200 (22.82). John Efraimson was second in the 200 (22.22) & first in the 400 49.75). Roman Fritz took third in the Javelin (174-09, while Keegan Young was fourth (174-07), Henry Hood eighth (154-08). Brody Justice was fifth in the Pole Vault (13-06) & Fritz seventh in the Shot Put (43-02). The 4X100 Relay team of Nathaniel Folsom, John Efraimson, Brody Justice & Jason Padgett placed first (42.67). For the North Bend girls: Roxy Day was sixth in the Pole Vault (9-06), Abby Woodruff seventh (9-00) & Lupita Trujillo eighth (8-06). Drew Hood placed eighth in the Triple Jump (33-07.75).

Marshfield’s softball & baseball teams both advance to the 4A OSAA First Round with “Play-In” wins at home Saturday. The Lady Pirates (15-12) beat Madras 7-4 to advance to a Tuesday game, 4:30p, at Stayton (20-5). Marshfield’s boys (17-9) beat Valley Catholic 9-6 to advance to play at La Grande (24-1) Wednesday, time to be announced.

North Bend’s softball team ended the 5A Midwestern League season with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Springfield Friday, 15-0 & 18-2 at the Oak Street Fields. The Lady Bulldogs finish with a 6-10 league record & 12-13 overall.

North Bend’s baseball team ended the 5A Midwestern League season with a split against visiting Springfield Friday 3-19 & 9-8 at Clyde Allen Field. The Bulldogs finish with a 2-14 record, 8-18 overall.
