Marshfield’s softball team survived a cold/wet weather marathon at Newport Saturday. The Lady Pirates prevailed 22-17 over the Cubs. The second game with Tillamook was cancelled due to the weather. Marshfield (5-0) is at the Redmond Invite Monday against Sisters (11:30a), followed by Cascade (4:30p).

North Bend’s softball team’s Northern California Spring Break trip started with a 7-1 loss Friday at Chico, CA. On Saturday, the Bulldogs entered the Anderson High Invite at Redding, CA against Shasta, CA, but lost the first game 8-5, and the second game 5-4 to Las Plumas, CA. North Bend beat Anderson Union 13-2 in the third game. Next scheduled game for the Bulldogs (3-5) is April 4 at home to Gladstone.

North Bend’s baseball team is in Arizona to play in the Coach Bob Invitational. The Bulldogs will open Monday morning, 9 a.m., against Cleveland. Tuesday, 4 p.m., vs. Shaker Heights, OH, at Shadow Ridge HS, AZ. Wednesday vs. Parma, ID at Chandler, AZ.

Marshfield’s baseball doubleheader with Tillamook at Newport Saturday was cancelled due to the weather. The Pirates are scheduled to play Philomath (9a) & Gladstone (11:30a) at the Newport Spring Break Tournament Monday morning. Both games will be broadcast live on FM 105.1 KMHS and streamed on-line at www.kmhsonline.com.
