CCSO release – Today we want to highlight the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Civil Division. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office Civil Division is staffed by three members. Chief Civil Deputy T. Hansen, Deputy J. Owens, and Office Specialist C. Cade. It is important to note that these three office members perform ALL the duties you see below for EVERY agency in the County. (North Bend, Coos Bay, Bandon, Lakeside, Myrtle Point, Powers, Coquille, and County Jurisdictions). Serve Subpoenas on behalf of the District Attorney, Department of Justice, Child Support, Juvenile Department, Law Firms, and many others, including civilians with private court cases being held. Serve Eviction papers and remove persons from addresses as per court order. Serve Restraining Orders, and if requested by the courts, move the respondent out of an address. May also stand by to transfer custody of a child by court order. (We cannot do “civil standbys” without a court order). Serve Divorce papers, Child Custody, Summons, and Petition. Small Claims, Summons and Complaints, Writ of Garnishment, and other documents relating to money awards and judgments. Perform Foreclosed Real and Personal Property Sales and seize money and property from local businesses per court orders. Assist the public with information regarding Civil Process (but not give legal advice). Assist Patrol and investigations. We are very thankful for the difficult job the Sheriff’s Office Civil Department performs. They go above and beyond daily to care for each person they serve while providing top-notch services to Coos County.
Hwy. 42, Bridge Burglary
CCSO release – Date / Time: December 9th, 2022; Case Number(s): S22-32250; Classification: Burglary; Location: Hwy 42 near Myrtle Point; Suspect(s): Unk; On December 9th, 2022, the man and woman in the photos entered a shed on a residential property Hwy 42 near Bridge. The man and woman burglarized the shed and took many items, which included a red Honda water pump and an MS-250 Stihl Chainsaw. The suspects were also accompanied by three dogs believed to be unwitting participants. Assault IV, Lakeside
CCSO release – Date / Time: March 27th, 2023, at 6:04 p.m.; Case Number(s): S23-06772; Classification: Assault IV Domestic / Warrant Service; Location: North Lake Road, Lakeside, Oregon; Suspect(s): Derek L. Roberts (43); Lakeside man commits domestic assault. On March 27th, 2023, at 6:04 p.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a report of a disturbance in progress occurring on North Lake Road in Lakeside. Deputy Z. Smith responded to the location and contacted the victim, who stated that her boyfriend had assaulted her and fled the scene. After taking the report of the assault Sgt. S. Moore and Deputy Z. Smith searched the surrounding area by vehicle, looking for the suspect, who was identified as Derek L. Roberts (43) of Lakeside. Derek was located a short distance from where the fight occurred at another residence. After an interview with Derek, he was arrested on the charge of assault IV domestic. Derek also had a warrant outstanding for his arrest. Due to severe medical concerns, the Coos County Jail said they would send a release on own recognizance document for Derek to sign. Derek L. Roberts was read and informed of the conditions on the document and pending court date by Deputy Z. Smith, including the special conditions to have no contact with the victim. Derek agreed to the conditions and was released on scene.
Trespassing Sleepy Hollow, Bridge
Date / Time: March 28, 2023, at 8:30 a.m.; Case Number(s): S23-06791; Classification: Trespassing, Found property; Location: (Sleepy Hollow Mobile & RV) 19316 Highway 42, Myrtle Point, OR 97458; Drugs were located and seized during a trespass call. On March 28th, 2023, at 8:30 a.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a call of a woman trespassing at the Sleepy Hollow Trailer Park in Bridge. Deputies R. Baker and B. Freerkesn drove to the location and contacted the woman trespassing, who was identified as Cynthia Mayse. Mrs. Mayse was trespassed from the site and grabbed some of her belongings while leaving a purple backpack on the ground. Mrs. Mayse was asked about the backpack and advised deputies that it wasn’t hers. No other owner of the bag was located. The pack was removed from the location at the R.V. Park’s request, believing it belonged to Mrs. Mayse. A search of the backpack revealed a bag of a white/clear substance with visually sizable crystal-like rocks. The substance tested positive for Methamphetamine with a weight of 22 grams. The Methamphetamine was seized and logged into evidence for destruction.
