Kidnapping at Lighthouse Beach
CCSO report – Date / Time: April 5th, 2023, at 6:00 p.m.; Case Number(s): S23-07462; Classification: Kidnapping I, (4) counts assault IV domestic, (4) counts strangulation, harassment, and menacing. Location: Lighthouse Beach, Coos Bay, OR 97420; Suspect(s): Brian A Donaldson (41); Man arrested after report of an assault at Lighthouse Beach. On April 5th, 2023, at 6:00 p.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a report of an assault that had occurred at Lighthouse Beach with the victim currently located at Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay. Deputy Freerksen responded to the hospital and met with the victim, who was being treated for injuries sustained in the assault. During the investigation, it was learned the victim was allegedly held against her will for several days at Lighthouse Beach while being physically assaulted several times. After speaking with the victim, Deputy Freerksen attempted to contact the suspect, who was identified as Brian A. Donaldson (41). Deputies Freerksen and Baker located Mr. Donaldson in Lakeside at the Lakeshore Lodge. As a result of the investigation, Brian A. Donaldson (41) was arrested on the charges of kidnapping I, (4) counts of assault IV domestic, (4) counts of strangulation, harassment, and menacing. Mr. Donaldson was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he remains in custody.
Burglary, Sitkum Ln., MP
CCSO release – Date / Time: April 6, 2023 at 4:00 p.m.; Case Number(s): S23-03036; Classification: Unlawful use of a motor vehicle, Burglary II, Theft II; Location: Sitkum Lane, Myrtle Point, Oregon; Suspect(s): James E. Belt (40); Arrest made after extensive burglary investigation. On February 8th, 2023, Deputy R. Baker responded to a burglary report on Sitkum Lane, near Dora. Over the past few months, Deputy Baker has been diligently conducting a follow-up investigation and working on developing a suspect. After speaking with several residents in the area, Deputy Baker recently learned that the suspect involved in this burglary was James E. Belt (40) from Coquille. On April 6, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. Deputy J. Gray located Mr. Belt driving a vehicle on Sitkum Lane near Frona County Park. Deputy J. Gray conducted a traffic stop on Mr. Belt’s car after confirming with the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center that Mr. Belt’s driving status in Oregon was a suspended violation. Deputy Baker, who was working Timber Patrol, responded to the area to interview Mr. Belt about his ongoing burglary investigation. After the interview, Mr. Belt was arrested on unlawful use of a motor vehicle, burglary II, and theft II. Mr. Belt was additionally cited for driving while suspended, and Mast Brothers Towing towed his vehicle from the location. Mr. Belt was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and later released on his own recognizance.
Warrant Arrest, Cape Arago Hwy.
CCSO release – Date / Time: April 6, 2023, at 11:10 a.m.; Case Number(s): S23-07519; Classification: Warrant arrest / Felon in possession of firearm x2 / Criminal trespass; Location: Cape Arago Hwy near Beacon Lane; Suspect(s): Duvall, Jordan J. (33); Alert neighbor calls in burglary resulting in two guns being removed from the street. On April 6, 2023, at 11:10 a.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a call of a burglary in progress occurring at a residence near the intersection of Cape Arago Hwy and Beacon Lane just south of Coos Bay. Sgt. A. Slater responded, and upon arrival, the suspect, later identified as Jordan J. Duvall (33) of Coos Bay, began to flee from the location on his bicycle. Sgt. Slater eventually stopped Mr. Duvall with the assistance of Deputy M.R. Smith. Mr. Duvall admitted to trespassing on the property as had been previously reported and denied owning the property. Mr. Duvall also had several outstanding warrants for his arrest. Additionally, Deputies removed two fully loaded Simi-automatic 9mm firearms from Mr. Duvall, one in his front jacket pocket and the other in his backpack. Mr. Duvall was arrested on the outstanding warrants and charged additionally with two counts of felon in possession of a firearm and criminal trespass. Mr. Duvall was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and remains in custody. The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the concerned citizen who called Mr. Duvall’s suspicious behavior into dispatch for police response.
Forged $100 Bill Passed at Charleston
CCSO release – Date / Time: April 6, 2023 at 9:00 a.m.; Case Number(s): S23-07494; Classification: Forgery of $100 bills; Location: Charleston, Oregon 97420; Suspect(s): Unk; Forged $100 bill passed at a business in Charleston. On April 6, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a report of a fake $100 bill passed at a business in Charleston. The bill feels very similar to real currency and has a very similar look. The bill does contain some foreign language script in pink ink on the front and back. The bill was seized for destruction. When receiving U.S. Currency, especially in the $100 bill denominations, please take an extra moment to ensure you are not receiving a forged note. If you encounter a forged note, please contact your local law enforcement.
