North Bend’s girls will send three to the OSAA State Tennis Championships following district action Friday at NBHS. Freshman Reagan Farm qualified as No. 1 in singles, and the team of Maddie West & Olivia Smith qualified as No. 3 in Doubles. The OSAA State Championships will be held May 19 & 20, OSU campus, Corvallis.

The OSAA State Golf Championships get underway today. The 4A schools are at Trysting Tree, Corvallis, Monday and Tuesday.

Marshfield’s softball team won the 2023 4A District 4 league championship with a doubleheader sweep of visiting North Bend Friday at Coos Head Field, Coos Bay. The Lady Pirates won the first-game 8-7 and the second game 19-13 to finish with a 10-2 league record, 18-6 overall. North Bend finishes in second with a 9-3 record, 12-10 overall. Marist Catholic swept visiting Cottage Grove Friday 18-3 & 20-4 to nail down third place with a 6-6 record, 12-11 overall. CG ends at 3-9 (8-13) and Junction City at 2-10 (9-15). Marshfield has one more regular season game on Wednesday against Glide at Coos Head Field, Coos Bay, 5 p.m. The OSAA rankings will freeze on Monday, May 15th, setting up the stage for the upcoming playoff matchups.

North Bend and Marshfield split their regular season ending baseball games at Coos Bay Friday. The Pirates won the opener 1-0 and the Bulldogs took the second game 5-4 (9). Marist Catholic (11-1, 20-3) won the 2023 4A District 4 League title with North Bend second (8-4, 12-9), Junction City third (7-5, 12-10), followed by Cottage Grove (2-10, 7-14) and Marshfield (2-10, 7-15) tied for fourth. The OSAA rankings will freeze on Monday, May 15th, then the playoff matchups will be determined.

Marshfield’s Daphne Scriven was a double-winner at the Wally Ciochetti Invitational Track & Field Meet at Cottage Grove Friday. The junior won the Shot Put (37-8), best mark in the 4A this season, & the Discus (123-10). Also, the Pirates, senior Kate Miles had a personal best in winning the Javelin (128-2) with a 4A State leading mark. Juniors Abby Woodruff (10-6) & Roxy Day (9-0) went one-two in the Pole Vault to lead the North Bend girls. For the Bulldog boys, junior Jason Padgett won the 100 (11.35) and was second in the 200 (22.75). He also anchored the North Bend winning 4X100 Relay Team (43.50) along with Nathaniel Folsom, Andrew Efraimson & Brody Justice to another 4A leading time. Bulldog senior Keegan Young won the Javelin (175-4) with the second best mark in the 4A this season. Marshfield’s boys were led by the Pole Vault tandem of junior Jonathon Parks (15-0) for first-place (best mark in 4A), & senior Trent Summers (14-6) second-place (tied for the 2nd best mark in 4A with teammate Danner Wilson). Senior Jack Waddington soared to 13-6 for fourth-place. On the track, Pirate junior Qwentyn Petty was second in the 400 (50.87), sixth in the 200 (23.25) & third in the 100 (11.59). Bandon freshman Marley Petrey continues to make her name known. She won the 100 (13.28), 300H (49.03) & Triple Jump (34-5.5). Philomath won the girl’s portion of the meet with 136-points. Marshfield was fifth (47) and North Bend eighth (34). Cottage Grove took the boy’s side with 95-points to Philomath’s 88. North Bend was sixth (53) & Marshfield seventh (49). The 4A District 4 Championships will be held Friday & Saturday, May 19 & 20, at North Bend HS.
