The OSAA State Tennis Championships get underway today for 4A/3A/2A/1A players at Oregon State University at Corvallis, Thursday. North Bend freshman Raegan Farm, the No. 1 Seed from district, will open against Sydney Liao, Scappoose, in the first round.

Both Marshfield and North Bend’s softball teams won “tune-up” games for the upcoming OSAA 4A playoffs Wednesday at home. District 4 League champion Marshfield beat 3A Glide (16-6) 10-3 at Coos Head Field, while league runner-up North Bend (13-10) beat 3A Taft (11-14) at the Oak Street Park Field. Marshfield (19-6) will host the top-ranked, and unbeaten, 2A team North Douglas (23-0) at Southwestern Oregon Thursday, 5 p.m., in another tune-up game. North Bend will host Seaside (8-15) in a “Play-In” playoff game Friday, 3 p.m. Marshfield will host an OSAA first round 4A playoff game on Monday or Tuesday, May 22nd or 23rd, following the “Play-In” round.

Both North Bend and Marshfield made the OSAA 4A Prep Baseball playoff’s “Play-In” round. The Bulldogs (12-9) will host Seaside (11-13), 5 p.m., Friday, Clyde Allen Field. The Pirates (7-15) will travel to Newport (16-8), Thursday, May 18, for a 4 p.m. game. The winner advances to the First Round. All but Cottage Grove (8-14) from District 4 advanced to the playoffs. Tillamook (9-12) will play at Junction City (12-10) in another “Play-In” game, while league champion Marist Catholic (20-3) has the bye. The Marshfield at Newport game will be broadcast live on FM 105.1 KMHS and streamed at www.kmhsonline.com.
