Marshfield’s softball team fell to visiting Astoria 14-4 (6) in the first round of the OSAA State 4A playoffs at Coos Head Field, Coos Bay, Tuesday. The Lady Pirates end the season as District 4 League Champions with a 19-8 overall record.

State high school baseball playoffs are in store for some of the South Coast’s teams Wednesday, May 24. In the OSAA 2A/1A bracket, Gold Beach plays at St. Paul; Culver is at Reedsport; and, Regis is at Bandon/Pacific. In the 3A classification, Siuslaw (Florence) is at Cascade Christian (Medford); and, Douglas at Brookings-Harbor.
