Both Reedsport and Bandon/Pacific fell in the OSAA State 2A/1A baseball quarter-finals Friday. Reedsport dropped a 21-1 (5) at Blanchet Catholic (Salem), while Bandon/Pacific lost at Umpqua Valley Christian (Roseburg) 11-5. Brookings-Harbor beat visiting Pleasant Hill 8-2 in a 3A quarter-final. The Bruins will play No. 1 seed Cascade Christian (Medford) in the semi-finals Tuesday, May 30.

OSAA 3A/2A/1A tr
Siuslaw won the OSAA 3A Boy’s State Track & Field Championship Friday at Hayward Field, Eugene. The Vikings posted 90-points to Santiam Christian’s 73.5, and Catlin Gabel’s 64. Bandon’s girls won the 2A title with 61-points, Heppner second with 58 and Enterprise-Wallowa third with 51. Coquille’s girls won the 3A championship with 66-points, followed by Cascade Christian 59 and Oregon Episcopal 51. Coquille’s girls: Reagan Krantz won the Pole Vault (10-09), while teammate Callie Millet was fifth (9-06.25); Emelia Wirebaugh was third in the Triple Jump (33-10); Millet was first in the Javelin (125-09) and Trinidy Blanton second (116-10). Holli Vigue won the Discus (125-09), while Millet was sixth (95-08). Melanie Lambson was third in the Long Jump (16-02.25) and Blanton fifth (16-00.25); Blanton fifth in the 200 (26.85). Bandon’s girls: Danielle McLain third in the 3000 (11:22.23); McLain also third in the 1500 (4:59.84); Marley Petrey second in the 100 (12.97); Makiah Vierck seventh in the 100H (17.22); Petrey first in the 300H (46.70); Petrey second in Triple Jump (33-03.75). Myrtle Pt. boys: Mason Detzler second in the Discus (154-01); Logan Clayburn sixth in Discus (132-04); Andreas Villanueva third in Triple Jump (41-0.75); Villanueva second in Javelin (169-00).

Marshfield’s boys won their second-straight OSAA 4A State Track & Field Championship Saturday at Hayward Field, Eugene. The Pirate boys compiled 70.5-points to win the two-day meet over second-place Pendleton (64), followed by Cottage Grove (59) and North Bend (46). Marshfield opened the meet on Friday by nearly sweeping the Pole Vault. Junior Jonathon Parks won the event (15-00), while teammates Trent Summers were second (14-09) and Jack Waddington tied for fourth (13-05.75). That spotted the Pirates 22.5-points. Add senior Alex Garcia-Silver’s win in the 3000 (8:31.08) Friday in a new state meet record, and Marshfield entered the second day with 32.5-points. On Saturday, Garcia-Silver added the 1500 (4:03.68) to his winning portfolio to take to BYU next year, while sophomore Bodey Lutes stepped up and won the 400 (48.29) in a new state meet record. Lutes nearly got a double, but ended up second in the 800 (1:58.66). Then it came down to the 4X400 Relay. The last event. North Bend took the lead, but the Pirates (Waddington, Drake Rogers, Garcia-Silver), with Lutes holding the baton on the final leg, came-from-behind and won in 3:26.27 to clinch the championship. Marshfield’s fifth since 2008. The Bulldogs (Jason Padgett, Andrew Efraimson, Nathaniel Folsom, Brody Justice) were second in the 4X400R (3:27.20) to clinch the final team trophy. North Bend was led by Padgett. The junior won both the 100 (10.92), the 200 (22.17) and anchored the winning 4X100 Relay team (Folsom, Efraimson & Justice) in 43.24. Senior Keegan Young took second in the Javelin (177-04). For the Bulldog girls, sophomore Drew Hood won the Javelin (118-02), junior Roxy Day was second in the Pole Vault (10-00) and the 4X400 Relay Team (Emma Slade, Lennon Riddle, Ayla Riddle, Lauren Efraimson) placed seventh (4:14.84). Freshman Ellie Massey was sixth in the 3000 (10:59.95). Marshfield’s girls were led by Daphne Scriven. The junior won her second-straight Discus title (124-08) and took third in the Shot Put (36-00.75). Senior Tori Cox was third in the Discus (108-01) and sixth in the Shot Put (35-05.75).
