Oregon Employment report – South Coast Payroll Employment Up by 570 Jobs over the Year – Coos County total payroll employment rose by 70 jobs in June. The only private-sector industry adding notable jobs was leisure and hospitality, up by 50 jobs. Government employment was unchanged in June with a loss of 60 in local government education offset by gains in local government excluding education and tribal (+20), state government (+20), federal government (+10), and Indian tribal (+10). Coos County payroll employment rose by 510 jobs over the past year. Gains were estimated in leisure and hospitality (+230), professional and business services (+80), other services (+70), construction (+40), and wholesale trade (+20). Industries with estimated job losses over the year included retail trade (-50), professional and business services (-70), and mining and logging (-20). Government employment climbed by 110 jobs with gains in local government excluding education and tribal (+60), Indian tribal (+50), and state government (+30). Local education slipped by 40 jobs over the year. Curry County payroll employment gained 120 jobs in June. Leisure and hospitality (+70), and government (+40) showed employment gains over the month. Other industries were little changed in June. Over the past year, Curry County payroll employment added 60 jobs. Trade, transportation, and utilities employment lost an estimated 100 jobs. Employment gains were seen in leisure and hospitality (+100) and private education and health services (+20). Within government, local government excluding educational services (+30), state (+20), and federal government (+10) gained jobs.
