Southwestern Oregon’s volleyball team won three-out-of-four at the Highline Round Up. On Friday, the Lakers fell to Highline 3-0, but came back and beat Centralia 3-1. On Saturday, SWOCC downed Pierce 3-0 and Shoreline 3-0. Southwestern (4-3) is at College of the Redwoods Monday, Sept. 4, 2 p.m. match.

At the Linfield Harrier Classic, McMinnville Saturday, Southwestern Oregon’s runners opened the 2023 season. Justus Jackson was 46th (19:52.9), followed by Gabriel Weaver placed 52nd (20:02.7), Habtamu Hurty 60th (20:17.0), Drew Lockner 85th (20:48.5), Elgin Negrete 96th (21:12.6), and Hank Maxwell 98th (21:14.6). On the women’s side, sophomore Bailey Wallack 82nd (16:55.6).
