On Saturday, September 2, 2023, at approximately 8:52 P.M., the Oregon State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Hwy-228, near milepost 19, in Linn County. The preliminary investigation indicated a Subaru WRX, operated by Joshua C. Jefferson (39) of Sweet Home, was eastbound went it left the roadway and struck several trees. The operator (Jefferson) was ejected from the vehicle and declared deceased at the scene. The highway was not impacted during the course of the investigation. OSP was assisted by ODOT.
