On Thursday, September 14, 2023, at approximately 6:41 P.M., the Oregon State Police responded to a single-motorcycle crash on Interstate 84, near milepost 134, in Gilliam County. The preliminary Investigation indicated a Honda Goldwing, operated by Scott Bastin (60) of Simi Valley (CA), was westbound when he traveled out of the lane of travel and onto the inside gravel median for unknown reasons. The Honda continued several hundred feet down the median and struck the cable divider. The operator (Bastin) was pronounced deceased at the scene. The highway was impacted for approximately 3 hours during the on scene investigation. OSP was assisted by Gilliam County Sheriff’s Office, North Gilliam County Fire and EMS, and ODOT.
