Oregon State’s Homecoming was a big celebration Saturday night at Corvallis. The Beavers topped the visiting UCLA Bruins 36-24 in a Pac-12 football game at Reser Stadium. With the win, OSU is 6-1 overall and “Bowl Eligible” with five-games remaining in the regular season. Oregon State (3-1, 6-1) has a bye this week and will play at Arizona, Oct. 28th, at Tucson, AZ. Oregon’s football team lost its first game of the 2023 season with a close 36-33 win by Washington at Seattle, WA, Saturday afternoon. It was a “should’a, could’a, didn’t game” for the Ducks (2-1, 5-1) who host Washington State Saturday, Oct. 21, 12:30 p.m., Autzen Stadium, Eugene, ABC TV.

Oregon’s volleyball team beat Arizona Friday, 3-0, Matthew Knight Arena, Eugene, but the Ducks lost to visiting Arizona State 3-0 on Sunday. Oregon (6-2, 16-3) hosts California, Friday, 7 p.m., Pac-12 Oregon. Oregon State got a sweep at Gill Coliseum, Corvallis. On Friday, the Beavers beat Arizona State 3-2, and did the same to Arizona on Sunday. OSU (2-6, 7-11) hosts Stanford, Friday, Oct. 20, 7 p.m., Pac-12 Networks.

Oregon’s women fell 2-0 to visiting Arizona State Friday in a Pac-12 women’s soccer match, Pape’ Field, Eugene. The Ducks (0-6, 1-12-2) play at California, Thursday, 2 p.m., Pac-12 Networks. Oregon State’s women tied visiting Arizona 0-0 Friday at Corvallis. The Beavers (0-4-2, 3-6-5) play at Stanford, Thursday, Oct. 19, 7 p.m., Pac-12 Insider. OSU’s men lost at Portland Saturday, 2-1. The Beavers (2-0-3, 5-4-3) host Stanford Thursday, Oct. 19, 7 p.m., Pac-12 Networks.

UO release – CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Junior standout Maddy Elmore turned in a runner-up performance Saturday at the XC-23 Pre Nationals meet at Panorama Farms in Charlottesville, Va. In the team race, the No. 17 UO women placed five inside the top 40 on their way to a fourth-place finish with 117 points. Running back among the pack through the early stages of the race, Elmore moved into the top 10 by the 3K mark to join the lead group. She eventually moved second and held on to the spot, crossing the finish line in 19:47.0 in the rainy conditions. Elmore has been the top UO runner in each of the past two races, including the Dellinger Invitational (Sept. 22) in Springfield. Up next: The postseason begins Oct. 27 with the 2023 Pac-12 Championships in University Place, Wash. The conference meet will air on the Pac-12 Networks beginning at 10 a.m. Oregon State’s women ran a the Nuttycombe Invitational, Madison, WI, Friday. The Beavers were seventh overall. Northern Arizona won the team title. Senior Kaylee Mitchell was fifth overall on the 6K course (19:56.6).
