According to a Population Estimate from Portland State University’ Population Research Center, Coos County’s population was virtually unchanged between 2012 and 2013. The report shows a population of 62,860 during a “Preliminary Population Estimate July 1, 2013. The “Certified Population Estimate July 1, 2012 showed 62,890, a loss of 30 residents, but 0.0% change. Curry Co. was also basically unchanged with 22,300 residents in 2013, as compared to 22,295 in 2012, a gain of five, but still 0.0% change. Individual “Preliminary Estimate July 1, 2013” for cities in Coos County shows: Coos Bay 16,160 (16,060); North Bend 9,720 (10,150); Coquille 3,850 (3,870); Bandon 3,100 (3,100); Myrtle Point 2,525 (2,515); Lakeside 1,705 (1,700); and, Powers 695 (695). The state itself grew by nearly one-percent (35,000) over the past year.
