Separate results for the Bay Area prep football teams on the road to Southern Oregon Friday night for 4A District 4 League games. Marshfield traveled to Murphy, south of Grants Pass, and beat Hidden Valley 19-6, while North Bend nearly went to the California border to play Ashland but fell 44-20 to the Grizzlies. One final game remains in the league and regular season for both teams. Marshfield is tied with North Bend for third-place behind Henley and Mazama. The Pirates (3-2, 4-4) host Mazama (4-1, 6-2) and the Bulldogs (3-2, 7-2) hosts top-ranked Henley (5-0, 8-0). In 3A – Sisters beat visiting Siuslaw 27-20, Brookings-Harbor lost 57-0 at No. Valley, and Coquille won at Douglas 30-13. 2A – Gold Beach beat visiting Illinois Valley 40-8, and Bandon/Pacific won at Reedsport 64-8. 1A6 – Powers beat visiting Elkton 26-19.

Marshfield’s volleyball team ended the regular season with a 3-1 set win over visiting South Medford Saturday at the Pirate Palace, Coos Bay. The visiting 6A Panthers of the Southwest Conference won the opening set 25-23, only the 11th time this year an opponent has won a set from the Lady Pirates. Marshfield took the next three sets 25-9, 25-18, 25-21 to close out the season with nine straight wins and a top-ranking among 4A schools. Up next for the Lady Pirates (24-3) will be an OSAA First Round Playoff match at home on Saturday, Oct. 28th.

North Bend advanced to the “Play-In” round of the upcoming OSAA 4A Volleyball Playoffs by finishing third in the 4A District 4 League. The Bulldogs (4-4, 15-6) will host Scappoose (5-7, 10-10) on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 5:30 p.m. Cottage Grove (2-6, 9-12) finished fourth in the league and will host Baker (3-3, 5-13). Winners advance to the OSAA First Round. In prep VB matches Saturday: 3A – Coquille fell at Cascade Christian 3-0. The No. 16 seed Red Devils (16-8) will host No. 17 Vale (15-9) in the OSAA First Round on Oct. 25th. 2A – Lowell won at Bandon 3-0, and Monroe won at Bandon 3-0. 1A – Skyline District Playoffs: No. Douglas beat Myrtle Pt. 3-0 and Days Ck. downed the Bobcats 3-2. Myrtle Pt. (15-5) is the No. 18 seed will advance to the OSAA First Round and play at No. 15 Imbler (18-14) on Oct. 25th.
