A deputy patrolling the area of Bushnell Ln. and Smithoak St. in Eugene observed a person operating a motorcycle recklessly on Sunday shortly before 3:00pm. The motorcycle was seen rapidly accelerating to 65mph in a 25mph residential zone. The deputy activated his emergency lights and siren in an attempt to pull the motorcycle over. Rather than stopping, the motorcycle’s operator sped away and began running stop signs. The deputy terminated his pursuit of the motorcycle for safety reasons. About a minute later, the deputy observed the motorcycle driving in his direction at the intersection of Rossmore St. and N. Park Ave. The motorcycle operator lost control of the motorcycle and began sliding on the ground. The motorcycle slid and struck the deputy’s patrol car, however the operator slid to a stop without hitting the patrol car. The male was taken into custody and identified as 41-year-old Brandon Linn Wilson. Wilson was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. He was transported to the Lane County Jail and lodged on charges including Elude by Vehicle, Reckless Driving, and Criminal Mischief in the First Degree.
