The City of Coos Bay will be removing the dock floats at the Empire Boat ramp located at 152 S. Ross St. for the winter on November 9th, 2023. The purpose of the removal is to prevent damage to the floats during winter storms. As many may remember, during the winter months last year the docks were severely damaged during a storm event on December 26th, 2022. To protect the floats from being damaged again it was decided with the advice of the Oregon State Marine Board to remove the floats from November to April. This preventative removal will occur each November. The ramp will remain open; however, the floats will not be available.
