The South Coast Les Schwab Holiday Basketball Tournament gets underway at Marshfield Junior and High Schools this afternoon with games at both sites. Eight boys and eight girls’ teams will be vying for the championship. Opening games on Thursday, 4 p.m. have in the boys’ bracket Crook Co. vs. No. Bend at MJHS; Junction City boys follow against Hidden Valley (5:30p, MJHS); Redmond vs. Junction City boys (7p, MJHS); and, Junction City girls vs. Scappoose (8:30p, MJHS). At the Pirate Palace beginning at 4 p.m., Philomath boys vs. Hidden Valley; Philomath girls vs. Crook Co. (5:30p); Mazama boys vs. Marshfield (7p); and, Mazama vs. Marshfield girls (8:30). Consolation games begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Main Gym, Friday.
