The South Coast Holiday Basketball Tournament got underway Thursday at Marshfield High School and Junior High School. In the girl’s first round bracket: Scappoose beat Junction City 38-26, Philomath over Crook Co. 40-24, and Marshfield beat Mazama 53-14. Semi-finals today on the consolation bracket at MHS has Junction City vs. Scappoose at noon; Crook Co. vs. Mazama at 1:45 p.m. In the championship semi-finals: Scappoose vs. Coquille/Bandon or Hidden Valley at 3:30 p.m., and Philomath vs. Marshfield at 7 p.m. In the boy’s bracket: Crook Co. over No. Bend 63-40, Redmond downed Junction City 41-34, Philomath beat Hidden Valley 69-62, and Marshfield downed Mazama 58-46. Consolation semi-finals this morning at MHS have North Bend and Junction City at 8:30 a.m., and Hidden Valley and Mazama at 10:15 a.m. Championship semi-finals have Crook Co. vs. Redmond at 5:15 p.m., and Marshfield vs. Philomath at 8:30 p.m.
