OSP reports, Aug. 7

Wayward Tire
A tire/wheel/hub assembly came off of a trailer pulling a boat on Hwy. 101 July 30, and struck another vehicle at the Hauser Depot Road intersection, north of North Bend. According to an Oregon State Police report, no one was injured; however, a passenger in the struck vehicle was arrested. Taken into custody on an outstanding Misdemeanor warrant out of Douglas Co. was 45-year old Jonathan George Rooke, Lakeside. He was transported to the Reedsport City Jail.

Two Arrested at Crash Scene
A male and female from Coquille were taken into custody July 31st following a collision between a passenger vehicle and a Ford F350 pulling a trailer near Coquille. According to an OSP report, the non-injury accident occurred at 7:25 p.m. at Harlocker Hill Road and Sylvania Lane. The beige Oldsmobile pulled out of a private driveway and struck the westbound vehicle in the passenger’s side. The Olds was disabled and the Ford suffered severe damage. “Operator 1 had walked to a nearby residence prior to law enforcement arrival. When Operator 1 returned, she provided a false name and date of birth. She smelled strongly of the odor of an alcoholic beverage, and she exhibited signs of impairment, admitting to consuming two beers.” Thirty-three year old Deanna Lynn Blocksom was placed in custody for False Information. “The registered owner was visibly impaired, and initially denied alcohol consumption. The register owner was a correction’s client with a no alcohol clause, and his probation officer authorized a Detainer.” Thirty-year old Nicholas B. Sucec was placed in custody. Blocksom was additionally charged with DUII and both were transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.

Speeder arrested
A gray Dodge, pulled over for excessive speed on Hwy. 101 at Hwy. 42S in Bandon Aug. 1, at 10:26 p.m., led to the arrest of the driver and a citation to the registered owner/passenger. According to an OSP report, “operator was exhibiting signs of impairment and the odors of marijuana and alcoholic beverages were emanating from the vehicle’s interior. The operator and female adult passenger (the vehicle registered owner) admitted smoking marijuana a short time prior to the stop. The passenger had an open container of alcohol secreted next to her seat. The operator agreed to SFST’s and based on her performance on the tests was placed in custody for DUII and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.” Twenty-two year old Angelina Monica Rae Martin, Ontario, was charged as the driver, and 51-year old Pamela Laverne Braden, Bandon, the passenger. She was cited for PCS Less than one ounce of Marijuana and Open Container. “Released to a family member.” Martin was transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille where “she refused to provide a urine sample and was cited for her Speed, Driving Outside of Restrictions, Driving Uninsured, PCS Less than an Oz. Marijuana, and Refusing an Intoxicant Test. The vehicle was towed.

Wild Coho
A 47-year old Portland male was cited with an Angling Complaint Aug. 4, 9:55 a.m., by an Oregon State Police Game Officer at Winchester Bay. According to an OSP report, Russell Vernon Pearson “was found to be in possession of a wild coho as he returned to Winchester Bay. The fish was seized and a citation was forwarded to the Portland OSP office for issuance.”

Wood Chips Spilled On 42
Several thousand pounds of wood chips spill across Hwy. 42 at milepost 41.5 Aug. 4, 8:02 p.m., when the driver of a semi-truck “panicked” while entering a curve too fast, “locked up the brakes, causing the vehicle to slide sideways. According to an OSP report, the vehicle eventually smashed through the guardrail where it came to an uncontrolled rest, completed blocking the highway.” The driver, 47-year old Wesley Lee Wear, Sutherlin, was not injured, but cited for Careless driving.

Vehicle in River
A vehicle ended up in middle of Coos River, off Hwy. 241, Aug. 5, 6:56 a.m., when a driver reportedly “fell asleep at the wheel and went off the roadway down a steep embankment coming to rest in the middle of the river.” Fifty-three year old Scott Thomas Pehrson was cited for Failure to Drive within Lane and Driving Uninsured. A tow truck recovered the vehicle.
