Flooded Road Rescue, Arago-Fishtrap, Jan. 17

CCSO release – Date/Time: January 16th, 2024; Classification: Vehicle Under Water; Location: Arago-Fishtrap; Summary: Multi-Agency Effort to Remove Vehicle from Flooded Road Saving 76-Year-Old Man. On January 16th, 2024, Deputies J. Lee and R. Baker, assisted by the Coquille Fire Department and Myrtle Point Ambulance, assisted a stranded motorist on Arago-Fishtrap in Coos County. The 76-year-old male driver, Dennis Vandre, was found to be in his vehicle in approximately (4) feet of water that had pushed the vehicle to the side of the road. Deputies and medics could walk to Mr. Vandre and get him to safety. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind community members to avoid flooded roadways. Your safety is not worth the risk.
