Marshfield is No. 8 in this week’s OSAA/Coaches 4A Prep Basketball Poll. The Pirates (10-4) trail No. 1 Baker (17-0), Cascade (7-2), Junction City (12-2), Marist Catholic (9-5), and Philomath (10-4). Cascade Christian tops the 3A Poll. The Challengers (8-5) are followed by Westside Christian (12-3), Valley Catholic (11-3), Douglas (12-2) and No. 5 Pleasant Hill (11-3). The 3A State Basketball Tournament will be held in the Bay Area Feb. 29 – March 2.

North Bend’s wrestling team lost 36-34 to Henley in a prep dual match Wednesday night. Wyatt Smith won at 144 for the Bulldogs, Parker Pruett won at 150, John Willett won at 157, and Jackson Swanson won at 150. North Bend also wrestled Klamath Union and won 47-30. Demitrius Mavola won at 120, Nicholas Campbell at 132, Wyatt Smith at 144, John Willet at 157, Ilana Maguire at 126, and Nicholas Campbell at 138. Marshfield also had two matches against the Skyline teams. The Pirates fell to Mazama 48-27, but beat Phoenix 70-12. For the Pirates against the Vikings: Ethan Flood won at 138, Aryan Wright at 175, Christian Woodram at 113, Hadyn Widdicombe at 120, Reese Hite at 132, Mason Tice at 138, Joseph Williams at 138, Rodney Epperson at 165, Brody Cross at 126 (2X). Against Phoenix, Pirates on Pirates: Reese Hite at 132, Ethan Flood at 138, James Steward at 144, Wyatt Petley at 190. Phoenix had nine forfeitures. Next up is the Bay City Duals at Marshfield Friday and Saturday.
