The U.S. Track & Field Olympic Trials, beginning today, features 900 athletes looking to make their dreams of representing the United States on the world’s biggest stage come true. Some of track and field’s biggest names are in attendance at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field in Eugene. Sha’Carri Richardson, who recently won the 100-meter at the Prefontaine Classic, will be competing in both the 100 and 200-meter events. Noah Lyles earned bronze at the 2020 Olympics and will look to return for gold in 2024. He’s also hinted at attempting the “sprint quadruple” at this year’s Olympics, competing in the 100-meter, 200-meter, and both the 4×100 and 4×400 relays. Other notable attendees will be two-time Olympic champion hurdler Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Olympic champion discus thrower Valarie Allman, and with $50,000 on the line for gold medalists in 2024, the competition is sure to be fierce at these trials. So when the Olympics finally does come around, the good ol’ U.S. of A will certainly put their best foot forward.
