Hwy. 42 Rollover
The driver of a green Toyota Hi-Lux received only minor injuries following a rollover accident Sept. 6, 8:16 a.m., at milepost 1.5 on Hwy. 42. According to an Oregon State Police report, 21-year old Skylar Michael Dixon, Coos Bay, stated he fell asleep while driving. “The vehicle went off of the left shoulder of the roadway, travelled up the embankment causing the vehicle to roll twice and coming to rest upside down in the center of the westbound lanes of SR-42.” Dixon was transported to by ambulance to Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay for evaluation. The vehicle was towed and no citations issued. The highway was closed for approximately 30-minutes.
Commercial Fishing Complaint
The skipper of a commercial fishing vessel was warned by an Oregon State Fish & Game Officer Sept. 8, 2:07 p.m., at Bandon Pacific Co. in Charleston. According to an OSP report, “subject was found to be in possession of a 27.25 inch commercially caught Chinook salmon. The fish was seized by ODFW fish sampler and released to OSP. The skipper was contacted and warned for the offense.”
Motorcycle Impounded
A 27-year old North Bend male was cited for Driving While Suspended, Driving Uninsured and Failing to File an SR22 after he was stopped for speeding on a black Honda Motorcycle Sept. 9, 6:55 a.m., Hwy. 101, milepost 238 southbound. According to an OSP report, Jonathan Ross McMillan’s motorcycle was impounded.
Ford Focus Impounded
A green Ford Focus, stopped on Hwy. 42, milepost 2, was impounded after it was verified the driver was Driving While Suspended. According to an OSP report, 26-year old Aubrey Sharay Stinnett, Coquille, was also driving uninsured and had failed to file for a required SR22.
Impounded Suzuki
An Oregon State Police trooper recognized the driver of a green Suzuki Sam on Hwy. 240, Cape Arago Hwy., Sept. 9, 12:16 p.m., as someone he stopped the prior week for Driving While Suspended. According to an OSP report, 24-year old Kevin Joseph Eber, North Bend, was cited and the vehicle impounded.
Impounded Honda
A black Honda Civic was impounded Sept. 9, 1 p.m., following a traffic stop at Taylor and Wasson streets in the Empire District of Coos Bay. According to an OSP report, 25-year old Bryan Wishon, North Bend, was found to be Driving While Suspended and Driving Uninsured.
Impounded Ford
A gold Ford was impounded Sept. 9, 2:02 p.m., following a traffic stop for a violation at Morrison and Taylor streets in the Empire District of Coos Bay. According to an OSP report, 19-year old Ayla Marie Morlatt was found to be Driving Uninsured.
Firearm Investigation
A male and female were transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille Sept. 10, 6:03 p.m., following an investigation into a “Firearms Unit denial for purchase of a firearm due to a felony conviction” in Coos Bay. According to an OSP report, 31-year old Latisha Elizabeth Rader, Coos Bay, “falsified the Firearms Transaction Record by marking No that she did not have any felony convictions, although she did within the previous 15 years.” It was also learned that Rader had a valid Restraining Order against 51-year old Robert James Connolly, Coos Bay. “I learned that Connolly met Rader at Fred Meyer to have her purchase a firearm for him, although he was prohibited from possessing a firearm, pursuant to the restraining order he violated by being in contact with Rader at Fred Meyer, and again at her residence later.” Rader was contacted at her residence. “She admitted to holding a firearm at Fred Meyer, to conspiring with Connolly to purchase the firearm for him, with his money, and to knowing Connolly was restrained from contacting her, and prohibited from possessing a firearm. She admitted to Connolly being in the residence and allowed a search for him, as he refused to exit. He was located after attempting to hide.” Connolly was charged with Violation of Restraining Order, and Conspiracy to Commit Unlawful Purchase of a Firearm. Rader was charged with Unlawful Purchase of a Firearm, Felon in Possession of a Weapon, and False Information in Connection with the Transfer of a Firearm. A search of the residence revealed firearms and several founds of ammunition.
