Stolen Vehicle recovered on Oregon Coast, Sept. 23

News release from Newport PD. On Monday, 09/22/2014, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Newport Police Officer Jerry Howe noticed a north-bound vehicle north- bound on Highway 101 with one headlight out. Upon stopping the vehicle, Officer Howe learned the vehicle was listed as stolen from the Corvallis area several days prior to the stop. The single occupant, identified as Pedro Angeles-Urieta, was detained for investigation purposes. He was later released when it was learned he might have purchased the vehicle without knowing it was stolen. Angeles-Urieta produced a bill of sale and a title to the vehicle that was damaged, and missing important information. Angeles-Urieta was cited for Driving While Suspended, and Driving Uninsured. The Newport Police Department takes this opportunity to remind citizens to secure the title to their vehicles in a safe place. Do not carry titles in the vehicles.
