Taser Deployed in Charleston, Sept. 26

News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On September 24, 2014, at about 1938 hours, Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of theft at the Portside Restaurant in community of Charleston. During the investigation deputies obtained a video of a man stealing a computer and a cell phone. Deputies were not initially able to identify the suspect’s name but had obtained information he frequented a local Sports Bar. Deputies took a photograph of the suspect to the bar and in contacting employees at the bar learned that the suspect was at the bar at that time. The deputy made contacted with the suspect who gave a false name and then ran from the deputy. The deputy was able to catch the suspect and he was placed into custody. The suspect was identified as 29 year old North Bend resident Jonathan Hammon. He was treated by medical personnel at the scene due to a TASER being deployed when the suspect fled. He was transported to the Coos County Jail without further incident and booked on the charges of Theft II, False Information to Police, Resisting Arrest, Escape III, and Criminal Mischief II.
