Menacing & Strangulation, Oct. 14

News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On October 12, 2014 at approximately 00 10 hours Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies aided by Coos Bay Police Officers responded to 62898 Pansy Lane, Coos Bay. A reporting party had called 911 regarding an ongoing domestic dispute. Upon arrival deputies could hear yelling and screaming and located the source. Deputies with Coos Bay Police Officers walked into the property which had multiple dwellings on the property. The suspect, Jeromy Heron, 26 years old of Coos Bay, had been reported to have a warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody by Coos Bay Police Officers on the warrant out of a small camp trailer on the property. Coos Bay Police Officers had to use force in order to take him into custody as Mr. Haren was resistive. Deputies contacted Courtney Cain, 27 of Coos Bay. She had been the victim of a domestic assault by Mr. Heran. During the investigation it was learned that the argument and subsequent assault occurred after a there had been a gathering of friends at the location celebrating a birthday. Mr. Heren reportedly assaulted Ms. Cain by pinning her to the ground and strangling her. Ms. Cain told deputies she thought she was going to die. Mr. Heren also placed her in imminent fear of serious physical injury by breaking out windows in the trailer that she was hiding in with an ax. Ms. Cain was chased around the property by Mr. Heren. She had bloody limbs from the struggle. Ms. Cain was transported by ambulance to Bay Area Hospital where she was treated for her injuries. Women’s Safety and Resource Center sent an advocate to be with the domestic violence victim. Mr. Heren was taken to the Coos County Jail on the warrant. Later in the morning he was arrested for assault for domestic menacing domestic and strangulation. Mr. Heren was lodged up the keys going to jail with a bail of $65,000.
