Southwestern Oregon Community College is offering and introductory birding class: Birds for All. In winter, many species of migrating waterfowl are easily viewed in our area; a few locally rare birds such as Eurasian Widgeon and Redheads are sometimes seen. The focus of the class will be observing birds. Join us Friday evening for an orientation before the Saturday morning field trip. Topics will include: ethical birding, field guidebooks and electronics, optical equipment, local birding locations and organizations. No experience required. Bring a field guide and binoculars or scope if you have them. Orientation topics will include: ethical birding, field guides, optical equipment, local birding/locations, birding organizations and internet birding resources. The class is scheduled to begin with an orientation from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, at Southwestern’s Gold Beach Center, followed by a field trip from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 6.
