Impounded Vehicles
Impounding of vehicles by the Oregon State Police: Nov. 10, 10:15 a.m., Cape Arago Hwy., mp 2, Coos Bay, “operator stopped for speed and equipment violations, found to be driving uninsured.” Green Isuzu Trooper, 35-year old Timothy Eugene Lucas, Winchester Bay, cited. Nov. 10, 2:55 p.m., Hwy. 42, mp 4.4 eastbound, “operator stopped for equipment violation, found to be driving uninsured.” Brown Pontiac Grand impounded, and 34-year old Raymond Ernest Hopkins, Myrtle Point, cited. Nov. 10, 3:48 p.m., Broadway & Virginia avenues, North Bend, “operator stopped for registration violation, found to be driving uninsured. Upon arrival of the impound tow truck the operator became hysterical, locked the vehicle doors, refused verbal instructions to exit the vehicle and called 911. After additional officers arrived the operator exited the vehicle and was arrested for Interfering with Peace Officer.” Twenty-four year old Chantelle Christine Mrkonic, North Bend, transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille and a brown Honda Accord was impounded. Nov. 11, 7:24 a.m., Hwy. 101, mp 229, northbound, “operator stopped for multiple violations, found to be driving uninsured.” Thirty-six year old Frank McKenzie Bierce, Coos Bay, was issued a criminal citation for Giving False Information Regarding Liability Insurance. Green Volk Jetta impounded. Nov. 11, 8:13 a.m., Oak St. at Virginia Ave., North Bend, “operator stopped for speed violation, found to be driving uninsured.” Forty-one year old Jesse M. Barger, North Bend, issued a criminal citation for Giving False Information Regarding Liability Insurance. Maroon Dodge Caravan impounded. Nov. 11, 8:42 a.m., Oak St. & 16th St., North Bend, “operator stopped for multiple violations, found to be driving while suspended and uninsured.” Thirty-two year old Amy Elizabeth McCart, Winchester Bay, issued criminal citation for Failure to Carry Operator’s License. Black Honda Accord impounded. Nov. 11, 9:18 a.m., Hwy. 240 (Cape Arago Hwy.), mp 1.1, eastbound, Coos Bay, “operator stopped for registration violation, found to be driving uninsured.” Twenty-two year old Tiana Marie Meyer, North Bend, cited. Gold Volvo S60 impounded. Nov. 14, 9:34 a.m., “a traffic stop was conducted for 79/55 on a rainy, wet highway. The driver failed to yield and continued driving on the shoulder even with the patrol car’s lights and siren activated. He yielded after continuing approximately ¼ mile.” Forty-one year old James Stewart Shepherd, Bandon, was cited for Speeding, No Oregon Operator’s License, Fail to Register Vehicle, Driving Uninsured, Fail to Yield to an Emergency Vehicle, and Improper Display of Registration Sticker. The gold Ford Taurus was impounded. Nov. 14, 9:41 a.m., No. 10th St. & Central Ave., Coos Bay, “the vehicle was stopped for expired registration tags.” Thirty-eight year old Kristina Rae Holladay, North Bend, was found to be driving uninsured and have no valid operator’s license. She was cited and her blue Toyota Tundra was impounded. Nov. 14, 12:28 p.m., Newmark Ave. & No. Schoneman St., Coos Bay, “the vehicle was stopped for a left turn violation.” Thirty-year old Versa Lou Smith, Coos Bay, was found to be driving while suspended and driving without insurance. She was cited and the white Ford Taurus was impounded.

Stolen Firearm
A firearm stolen in Roseburg in 2005 turned up at a Bay Area pawn shop, Nov. 10, 12:30 p.m. According to an OSP report, a 54-year old Coos Bay male attempted to sell the firearm, which was seized. The case has been referred to the Coos Co. District Attorney.

DUII
A silver/aluminum Ford THU was impounded and its driver cited for DUII following a single-vehicle accident Nov. 10, 1:26 p.m., Hwy. 42-South and Goodwin Road, Bandon. According to an OSP report, “an investigation revealed that the driver was intoxicated, he was arrested and transported to the Coos County jail where he provided a breath sample.” Twenty-two year old Austin Tyrone Waterman, Myrtle Point, was cited for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Reckless Driving and Recklessly Endangering Another Person, No Operator’s License, and Failure to Maintain Lane.

Crash
A passenger in a black Dodge Dakota was injured Nov. 10, 7:46 p.m., during a single vehicle accident near Reedsport. According to an OSP report, “a crash occurred when Driver #1 drove off US-101, across Reedsport W Road for an unknown reason. Vehicle #1 crashed into the hillside on the north side of the road.” Twenty-five year old Callin Richard Clark, Walton, was uninjured, but 18-year old Natasha Ambrosia Clemens, Walton, was transported by ambulance to Lower Umpqua Hospital in Reedsport. Clark was cited for No Operator’s License, Failure to Drive Within Lane, and Failure to File SR-22. The vehicle was towed.

DUII
A 25-year old male was arrested on a long list of charges Nov. 11, 12:09 p.m., following a traffic stop of a teal Mazda B2300 on Hwy. 101, mp 235.5, North Bend. According to an OSP report, Edward Robert Brown “was arrested for the crimes of Using Another’s Driver License, Identity Theft, Theft III of Lost/Mislaid Property, False Info for Purposes of Citation, False Info for Purposes of Warrant, PCS Meth, DUII C/S, Reckless Endangering (2Cts). Mr. Brown was also arrested on Coos County Circuit Warrant which charged Theft II. A victim’s stolen Oregon DL was seized from Mr. Brown. Mr. Brown was also issued citations for DWS-Violation, Driving Uninsured, NO SR-22, Refusing UA, and Fail to Change Address on DL.” A passenger, 26-year old Tara Janice Currie, Coos Bay, was also arrested on a Felony Probation Violation and was referred to the DA’s office for PCS Meth. A third passenger, 47-year old Carol Gene Hansen, Coos Bay, was cited and released for PCS Less than an Oz. Marijuana and Permitting Unlawful Operation. The vehicle was impounded.

Firearm & Drugs
Drugs and a firearm were seized during a traffic stop of a gold 2006 Chrysler 300 for speeding on Virginia Ave. and Cleveland St. in North Bend, Nov. 11, 12:22 p.m. According to an OSP report, 36-year old Jimmy Don Edwards, Las Vegas, was arrested for fail to carry or present a license. The right front passenger, 21-year old Krysta Rene Guptill, North Bend, was arrested for Probation Violation. “The vehicle was searched under the motor vehicle exception and revealed a concealed firearm from a hidden compartment in the dash. The occupants were transported to the Coos County Jail and cited. Two other passengers, 30-year old Melissa Jo Neal and Melissa Jo Skallerud, both of North Bend, were cited for Possession and Delivery of Meth, Possession and Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Prescription Controlled Substance. The vehicle was impounded.

DUII
A white Ford EPD was impounded and the driver arrested following an incident Nov. 14, 11:22, at a drive thru on Newmak Ave. in Coos Bay. According to an OSP report, “operator was driving through the Burger King drive-thru, and had become belligerent with employees concerning the menu. Operator was exhibiting signs of impairment, and Burger King employees contacted Coos Bay Police Department dispatch to report the incident. I observed the operator at the drive-thru, and observed the operator leave the shopping center parking lot and drive westbound on Newmark. Subject was contacted during a traffic stop, and was found to be impaired.” Thirty-seven year old Brandon Scott Blakey, Coos Bay, was charged with DUII and taken into custody. A passenger, 34-year old Kelly Ilene Blakey, Coos Bay, “dropped a container of marijuana on the ground and had an open 16 ounce beer at her feet.” She was cited with Permitting Unlawful Operation, Open Container of Alcohol and PCS, Less than one Ounce of Marijuana and released, along with a female juvenile, to a sober adult family member.
