Report of Kidnapping at Johnson Mill Pond, Nov. 25

News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On November 22, 2014, at about 2203 hours, a Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy and a Myrtle Point Police Officer responded to Johnson Mill Pond County Park, south of Coquille in response to a report of Kidnapping and Assault occurring there. The initial report made by Jeffrey Hill was that a Darci Gehring had been kidnapped and was being held by subjects and driven around the county against her will. It was reported that the camp host at Johnson Mill Pond and his son had Ms. Gehring. Upon arriving at the Johnson Mill Pond and looking into the report deputies determined that 30 year old Jeffrey Hill of Coos Bay had made a false report regarding the kidnap report. Mr. Hill had reported a female, a protected person of a stalking order (Darci Gehring) of which Mr. Hill was the respondent, was being held against her will and being assaulted at the park. This information caused the stalking order to be violated when Myrtle Point Police Department conducted a welfare check on Hill’s behalf. Jeffrey Hill was arrested for Violation of a Stalking Order, Misuse of 911 and Initiating a False Report. The investigation revealed none of the incidents which Hill reported had occurred. Mr. Hill was transported to the Coos County Jail and booked.
