Quakes at Cape Mendocino, Jan. 29

The point where two fault lines begin in Northern California that run parallel with the Oregon Coast was rocking with seismic activity Wednesday, Jan. 28. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.7-magnitude quake was recorded in the Cape Mendocino area at 1:08 p.m., and located 40-miles southwest of Eureka, CA. Two smaller quakes, 2.5-magnitude followed. A 4.2-magnitude quake was also recorded in the Lakeview area of south central Oregon.
