ODA issues civil penalties for pesticide violations in 2014, Feb. 10

The Oregon Department of Agriculture’s Pesticide Program completed 505 investigations of potential pesticide violations in 2014 and, as a result, issued 34 civil penalties totaling $66,423 over the course of the year. Penalties cited from the Oregon Coast: The penalties include those issued for performing pesticide applications in a faulty, careless, or negligent manner: • Willamette Valley Helicopters of Newport– $407; ODA licenses more than 12,000 commercial pesticide businesses and applicators. A vast majority are in compliance with Oregon’s Pesticide Law.
