Texas-based Radio Shack plans to close up to 2,100 stores nationwide in a cost saving move prompted by the filing of bankruptcy. Sixteen “under-performing” stores in Oregon will close, but not the one in North Bend’s Public Square Shopping Center on Newmark St. Eight stores in the Portland area, and two in Vancouver, WA, will be closed as well as two in the Salem area, two in Eugene, one in Roseburg, and one in Albany. According to the bankruptcy filing, Radio Shack had net operating losses of about $344 million last year on $3.4 billion in revenue.
