South Coast Writers Conference hosts “Authors’ Night” featuring Kim Griswell, Feb. 13

Southwestern Oregon Community College (SWOCC) will be hosting Authors’ Night as part of the South Coast Writers Conference. Join the Gold Beach community for this exciting and uplifting evening. Kim Griswell will give the keynote presentation, In Search of Voice: What it is, Where to find it, and Why you need it! Following her talk will be readings by the other conference presenters, as well as a chance for book sales and signing. Kim Griswell is the developmental editor of children’s books for Portable Press, home of Uncle John’s Bathroom Readers where she spends her days building the Uncle John’s FOR KIDS ONLY line. Prior to working for the world’s snarkiest trivia master, Kim spent six years as coordinating editor of Highlights for Children and three years as a senior editor for Boyds Mills Press. Kim has taught writers across the country through workshops for the Highlights Foundation and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, and has been an instructor for the Institute of Children’s Literature. Her published works include more than 200 short stories, articles, and columns in magazines, newsletters, and books; several educational books; and a number of picture books, including Rufus Goes to School and Rufus Goes to Sea. Griswell’s book, Rufus Goes to School, is a finalist for an Oregon Book Award. Authors’ Night — scheduled from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2015 at the Curry Showcase on the Curry County Fairgrounds – is free and open to the public. Space is still available for the Writers Conference workshops which takes place February 13 and 14, 2015.
