Committee for Family Forestlands, March 6

The Committee for Family Forestlands will receive an update on the legislative session, and hear a presentation on the East Face Elkhorns Cohesive Wildfire Strategy when it meets from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, March 6, at the Oregon Department of Forestry headquarters office in the Tillamook Room – Administration Building (C), 2600 State St., in Salem. The meeting is open to the public, and a public comment period is scheduled between 9 and 9:30 a.m. Agenda items include: – Oregon Forest Industries Council update on current events; – Presentation on the Monitoring Strategy development process; – Update on the Partnership for Education program; – Discussion to provide input to the Subcommittee on Riparian Rules; – Update on forestry-related legislation under consideration in the current session of the Oregon Legislature; – Presentation on the “All hands, all lands” restoration project underway in the Elkhorn Mountains of NE Oregon and SE Washington. The Committee welcomes public input at its meetings on all issues related to its work. COMMITTEE: The Committee for Family Forestlands researches policies impacting family forestland viability, resource protection, and forestry benefits. Based on its findings the Committee recommends actions to the Oregon Board of Forestry and State Forester.
