Stolen Vehicle Recovered on Central Coast, April 1

News release from Newport PD. On March 29, 2015 at about 10:30 p.m., a Newport Police Officer was on patrol driving north across the Yaquina Bay Bridge. The Officer performed a routine check on the registration of a green 1994 Toyota Tercel he was following. The registration returned to a reported stolen vehicle from Klamath County, Oregon. Officers from the Newport Police Department, with assistance from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oregon State Police, conducted a traffic stop in the 400 Block of SW Coast Highway. The vehicle’s occupants, Robert P. Smyth, age 39 of South Beach, and Oscar Pacheco-Parra, age 32 of no known address, were taken into custody without incident. Both subjects were also found to be in possession of suspected illegal narcotics. Smyth and Pacheco-Para were transported to the Lincoln County Jail where they were lodged without incident. Their bail was set at $100,000 each.
