MHS Students Protest, April 9

Students at Marshfield High School in Coos Bay walked out of classes Wednesday to protest a reported controversy between the Coos Bay School District’s superintendent, and the high school’s athletic director that resulted in him being placed on leave Monday, April 6. Greg Mulkey’s absence follows the recent resignation of the school’s principal, Doug Holland. Superintendent Dawn Granger says she cannot’ comment on the rife stating it is a personnel issue. In 2011, the school board chose Granger over Mulkey for the superintendent position. Two years later, Granger reassigned Mulkey from the school’s principal position back to athletic director.
