Booster Clubs
The Marshfield and North Bend booster clubs meet at noon today. The Pirate supporters will gather at Abby’s Pizza in Coos Bay, while the Bulldog backers meet at the high school’s Hall of Champions. Both luncheons are open to anyone interested in local Bay Area prep sports.

The Marshfield at North Bend softball game scheduled for Tuesday was postponed and will be rescheduled. In other 4A Far West League games, Douglas (4-0, 10-2) moved into first place with a 19-4 win in five innings at home over South Umpqua (3-1, 9-3). Brookings-Harbor (1-3, 8-7) beat visiting Siuslaw (0-4, 2-12) 12-2. On Thursday, Marshfield (3-0, 8-5) hosts South Umpqua, and North Bend (0-3, 6-5) hosts Brookings-Harbor.

North Bend’s Jon Bennison threw a one-hitter, and the Bulldogs Zach Inskeep stroked a two-run homer to spark visiting North Bend to a 7-0 win over Marshfield at Coos Bay Tuesday afternoon giving the Bulldogs sole possession of first place in the 4A Far West League. Bennison struck out 12 Pirates and the only hit he gave up was to Marshfield’s lead-off batter, Chase Dibala to open the bottom of the first. Tyler Campbell threw for the Pirates. The senior fanned nine Bulldog batters, but gave up five hits including the centerfield shot by Inskeep in the seventh. The two are back in action Thursday. Marshfield (3-1, 6-8) plays at South Umpqua and North Bend (4-0, 9-3) travels to Brookings-Harbor. In other FWL games, Douglas (2-2, 4-10) won at South Umpqua (1-3, 4-9) 8-3, and Siuslaw (1-3, 3-11) held off Brookings-Harbor (1-3, 4-9) 7-5 in Florence.

Marshfield’s boys and girls swept team results at a Far West League track meet in Winston Tuesday. The Pirates boys won with 227-points to Brookings-Harbor’s 80.5, North Bend with75, Camas Valley 69.5, Riddle 66, Douglas 40, Gold Beach 34 and South Umpqua 9. On the girl’s side, Marshfield won with 239-points, followed by North Bend with 93, Brookings-Harbor 65, Gold Beach 50, Camas Valley 41, Riddle 27, Douglas 24 and South Umpqua 3. Individually, Justin Holman won two events for the Pirates, the 200 (24.94) and the 110 HH (16.21). Savannah Thurman won three, the Shot Put (33-08), Discus (122-09) and Javelin (103-09). The mark in the Discus is the best 4A throw in the state so far this season. Hunter Drops also won three events the 100 (11.59), Pole Vault (14-06) and Long Jump (20-05). Brody Lucero won the Javelin (135-08) for North Bend and Tanner Gray was second (111-08). Gray was also second in the Discus (113-07).
