Booster Clubs
The North Bend and Marshfield booster clubs meet today, noon. The Bulldog backers will gather in the high school’s Hall of Champions, while the Pirate supporters meet at Abby’s Pizza in Coos Bay. Both luncheons are open to those who support Bay Area prep sports.

Middle School Dist. Track Meet
Marshfield will host the Middle School District Track & Field Championship, Wednesday, May 6th with field events at 3:00 pm and Running events at 4:00 pm on Prefontaine Track.

Marshfield downed visiting Siuslaw 11-1 in six-innings, Tuesday evening at Coos Head Field in Coos Bay in a 4A Far West League softball game. The Lady Pirates remain unbeaten in league play (10-0, 16-5 overall), and hold a one-game advantage on second place Douglas (9-1, 15-3), which beat visiting Brookings-Harbor (1-9, 8-13) 16-6 in six innings at Winston. South Umpqua (7-3, 13-5) is still third after winning at North Bend (3-7, 9-9) 10-2. Double-Header Friday has North Bend at Marshfield (3 p.m.), Douglas at South Umpqua, and Brookings-Harbor at Siuslaw.

Visiting South Umpqua handed 4A Far West League baseball leader North Bend its first league loss of the season, 6-4, at Clyde Allen Field in North Bend Tuesday evening. The Bulldogs are 9-1 in the FWL (14-4 overall), with a two-game lead on the Lancers (7-3, 10-9). Marshfield is in third place (6-4, 9-11), after downing Siuslaw (2-7, 5-15), 11-1 in five innings at Florence. In the other FWL contest, Douglas (3-7, 5-15) won at Brookings-Harbor (2-8, 5-14), 8-7. Double-Headers on Friday. Marshfield plays at North Bend (3 p.m.), South Umpqua at Douglas, and Siuslaw at Brookings.

Pacific won the boy’s side while North Bend was second and Marshfield third at the nine-team North Bend Last Chance JV Track Meet Tuesday on Frank Shriver Track. Pacific won with 153.5 points, the Bulldogs were second with 132, followed by Marshfield with 121. North Bend took the girl’s side with 149.5 points, while Marshfield was second with 129. For the girls, Marshfield’s Hailee Woolsey won both the 200 (28.21) and 400 (1:06.13). Freshman Hannah Beaulieu won both the 100H (18.28) and 300H (52.48). North Bend won both the 4x100R (Alexa Reed, Maggie Muenchrath, Brianna Cole, Brittney Kubli) 54.38, and 4x400R (Janelle LeBlanc, Samantha Shook, Megan Rutherford, Gabby Hobson) 4:43.99. The Bulldogs’ McKenzie Gauntz won the Pole Vault (10-06) and Brianna Cole won the Long Jump (14-10.50) and Triple Jump (32-11.50). On the boy’s side: North Bend went 1-2-3 in the 100 with Drew Matthews (11.44), Drae Stark (11.52) and Luke Lucero (11.71). Marshfield’s Sawyer Heckard won the 500 (2:08.90). North Bend’s Michael Brown won the 3000 (9:22.57), and Cam Lucero won the 110HH (15.94). The Bulldogs 4x100R team of Luke Lucero, Drae Stark, Drew Matthews, Cam Lucero) took first in 44.64. The Bulldogs’ Brody Lucero won the Javelin (152-09). The Pirates’ Hunter Drops won both the Pole Vault (15-00), while North Bend’s Luke Lucero was second at 13-00. Drops also won the Long Jump (20-07.75). Both North Bend and Marshfield will have their full teams competing in the 107th Annual Coos Co. Track & Field Meet Friday evening at MHS.
