Thursday, May 14: Girls varsity tennis Regionals at Black Butte.

Marshfield’s boys won the 4A Special District 3 Regionals at Centennial Golf Course at Eagle Point Tuesday, May 12. The Pirates scored 664, while Hidden Valley was second with a 718. The Pirates and Mustangs qualify for the 4A OSAA state championships at Quail Valley, near Banks, next week. Craig Ronne, a freshman at Klamath Union, was the medalist (74-69), and junior Bryce Wortman (72-72) from Mazama was the runner-up. Individually for Marshfield, Preston Luckman (NS, 79), Kasey Banks (79-82), Jacob Klein (81-84), Cody Easton (89-96), Jake Larson (85-85).

North Bend’s boys won the 4A/3A/2A/1A Special District 3 Tennis Regionals at Black Butte, west of Sisters, Tuesday, May 12. The Bulldogs defeated St. Mary’s 33-28 to win the title and to advance to the 4A OSAA state championships at the Oregon State University Tennis Complex in Corvallis May 22-23.

Douglas beat Siuslaw 10-3 Wednesday in a 4A Far West League softball make-up game in Florence. The two were rained out on Tuesday. With the win, the Lady Trojans (12-1, 18-3) are a game behind Marshfield (13-0, 19-5) with two games to go in the regular season. The two meet in Winston Friday for a regular season ending doubleheader that will determine the 2015 league title. The No. 8 OSAA Power Ranked Lady Pirates need to win one of the two games, while No. 6 Douglas needs both to claim this year’s league title. The first game is at 3 p.m. and the second at 5 p.m. FM 91.3 KMHS will carry both games live on the radio and also streamed on the Internet.
